Talking about dreams and dresses

Hi everyone! I watched LovelyLor's latest video about dream dresses and I thought, what a good idea for a blog post!

So dream dress. What is it? To me, there are dream dresses and then there are dream prints that I would be happy to own but probably never will, because of sizing. I am not confident enough to alter my own dresses, so I would need to look into someone who could do that for me. And even though I love the print in guestion, I am not always sure if I am willing to go through the hassle.

So essentially there are two kinds of dream dresses for me: ones that I can wear right away, and ones that need to be altered.

So, I have been into lolita for little over a year, so do I own any of my dream dresses? The aswer is yes! I own few dresses that I would consider dream dresses. For example, My Dear Friends from Metamorphose temps de fille.

I really love this print and this dress. I was not sure about the bustle on the back (yes, there is bustle), but I have grown to love it. I like the ribbon on the front bodice and the lace on the bow!

So I have few dream dresses already. That has been possible because of my work situation, so I have had extra money to put into lolita. But usually, acquiring a dream dress is much longer process, than what I have had to do. I am sure all of you have read stories of people hunting their dream dresses for multiple years, even tens of years!

But I'll start the list, starting with dresses that I can wear instantly!

This one is Lady Sloth's My Spooky Macarons! They have it up on their website RIGHT NOW but I have to be responsible adult and wait until my next paycheck. So I saw this when I was starting to decide to take the plunge and get some lolita, like in late 2019, and I just instantly fell in love. It has gorgeus lace, funny and cute print and its size inclusive! I love the lavender colour, it is my favourite colour of all time, and I hope to get as many lavender pieces that I can. Starting with this as soon as the paycheck comes!

Baby the Stars Shine Bright - Kumya's Twinkle Cosmetics JSK II. Oh how I love the dreaminess and whimsy of this dress! Even though I don't personally wear makeup, I have to admid they make cute print. I love that Kumakumya and Usakumya are just chilling on the clouds and trying out little makeup! This is of course, the lavender colourway. I did not have the funds at the time when they put up the lottery for this dress, so I will be searching for this on secondhand market.

Haenuli! I have several dresses that I would LOVE to own from Haenuli, but the biggest size never pops up on the secondhand market. But I get it, there are people who own them and love them, and if I got one of these?? I would never let go! Lolita Detective from this lot is a bit different, but its because I really enjoy detective stories and Sherlock Holmes is a must. I really really would love something lolita that is inspired by Holmes. I think Violet Fane did something, but I cannot find it on Lolibrary! But I would love to own any of these.

Baby the Stars Shine Bright - Kuma Kumya's Marine Island JSK II. I love this print! These colors go so well together and they make you feel that you are underwater in a mermaid kingdom! I would love to own something with Kuma Kumya on it, I love that little bear. This colorway and the pink colorway are the best, I do not care for the mint or sax, they look odd to me. But this print, this cut and this color are the dream~ This dress in this cut is kinda hard to come by, at least I have not seen it many times, I may just be too late but I have been stalking a few secondhand market sites for this.

Okay! These are the dresses that I would be able to just get and put on. Next patch of pictures is going to be things that are too small, but that have prints that I really really would like to be able to get and wear, like if I found two of the same colorway for reasonable prices, I would buy and pay for someone to frankendress them together. I am not going to spend too much space to talk about these, as they are quite unobtainable to me right now. But I'll try to say few things that made me desire these so much that they can be called dream prints.

So here they come!

Angelic Pretty - Mercator Antique Shop in lavender! I really love this print! It has something museum-like that I adore and the combination of gold and lavender is super pretty. Mysterious and celestial.

Angelic Pretty - Victorian Letter in brown! I really enjoy this print, it brings back memories when I had a pen pal and we wrote letters to each other. There is something super nostalgic in the colorway too, I adore this print in brown and also in ivory! So either one of those would be so lovely to find, but sadly this seems to be pretty rare dress also.

Alice and the Pirates - The Knights of St. Lily. So this dress in newer, I think it was released in 2019. I love lilies, my grandmother is named Lily and she has always been really close and wonderful to me, so every time I see lilies I think of her. I miss her so much, because of covid I have not seen her since last spring. I hope that I get to see her soon.

Baby the Stars Shine Bright - Treasure Hunt in the Mystic Island. I really love the look of old maps and the idea of pirate life. In fantasy or like movies pirate characters are usually flamboyant and fun and I really like that. I wish that I could go on a treasure hunt...

Baby the Stars Shine Bright - Secret AIR MAIL from Sweet Kitty. I think you can sense a theme going? I really like prints with letters, papers and books and maps! This dress is such a darling, I really love the colors and the cat in it!

Alice and the Pirates - Faint Love in the Watercolor Sky and the Melody of the Rain. Such a long name! But something about this dress makes me feel like I am watching the rain from windowstill and listening to calm music. Sometimes, a windchime brings a bright note to the air, and rain keeps on pouring... This print makes me feel calm and I almost want to put on some background rain sounds. I love the colors and all the little details.

And here we are! These are the dresses that I would consider worthy of the name "dream dress." All of these I would be super glad to own and to wear. Do you have any dream dresses? Have you gotten any already or are you just starting to hunt them down? Wherever you stand on the topic of dream dresses, I hope that you will find you dress for reasonable price and in good condition!

See you in the next blog post,
